Acne also called as acne vulgaris is the common skin disease affecting people of all ages. It mostly affects the skin with the densest population of sebaceous follicles. The areas getting affected by acne are face, upper chest, and back. Acne is generally non-inflammatory but in severe stages, it can cause severe inflammation. It is caused by interaction between hormones, bacteria and sebum produced by the sebaceous glands of the skin. There are many different causes of acne and the
acne treatment varies according to the cause.
The treatment for acne vulgaris depends on the severity. Mild acne may get cured by washing face gently with the toilet soap, face wash or by drying agents like benzyl peroxide. Serious acne may require oral treatment with antibiotics or hormonal therapy. Acne arises when oil glands come to life during puberty.
Acne is characterized by the presence of blackheads, pimples, sebaceous cysts and scars. Acne may also be caused by the dust particles remaining in the skin pores and getting swelled resulting in pimples.
